    Piracy: Blessing or Curse?

    Post by MY.PacmanZ on 5/31/2010, 07:57

NOTE: THIS TOPIC IS NOT INTENDED TO PROMOTE PIRACY IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM. PLEASE DO NOT SHARE ANY ILLEGAL LINKS IN HERE.

Piracy is currently one of the worst issues in the whole world. A lot of people see it as a bad thing as it generates a lot of losses in terms of sales. In the 90s, the most we had was CD checks and serial numbers. However, with the advancement of technology, most developers have resorted to more troublesome DRM systems. Some of them will ask you to validate your serial online(No problem with that tbh) and others will require you to stay online THE WHOLE TIME, even when you're trying to play it on singleplayer.

If that wasn't enough, most developers have been giving us a lot of craptastic and disappointing games. Just look at Splinter Cell: Conviction's disappointing singleplayer campaign and multiplayer features and Modern Warfare 2's many flaws and glitches.

Piracy used to be a bad thing in every case but now, it isn't necessarily a bad thing anymore. As developers release craptastic games with DRM systems that resemble Communism, it makes you wonder if you should actually continue to support the devs by buying their games.

No, please do not at this rate, introduce me to the PS3 or the FailBox360 because we all know that the PC platform has more potential. The only thing that stands in the way is piracy. But then, the same can be said for the FailBox360.

Is Piracy a blessing or a curse? You be the judge.

What I see is that it is a blessing from my point of view.

Can save $$ and get more games.

Yes but piracy reduces the revenue generated by the developers. Therefore, they have to cut down on the budget.

Even in the United States, where they make the games, Americans think that paying $50 is too much (I asked a course mate of mine).

If someone decided to manufacture the games locally, I'm certain the price would be drastically reduced, and jobs would be created.

no. MW2 does not worth on pirating when the MP is good.

No games should be pirated. Cos of piracy All the cool games that are meant for PC ran away to Consoles such as XB and PS3.

Good thing bout piracy: Save money

Bad thing bout piracy: PC games cost more , DRM system , Delayed games , Good games for PC will be no more

Actually, piracy isn't affecting the economy a lot. The company still earning a lot, most people involve in piracy are people who can't pay up for the price. So even if there's a bullet-proof DRM, it still can't make people to pay for the products when they do not have the money. The company themselves killed the customers.

MW2=Good multiplayer? You sir, are epic.

Why you should NOT buy MW2

    1. "NO DEDICATED SERVERS" - Bobby Kotick
    2. Maranubs
    3. 1887 akimbo faggots
    4. Boosters
    5. Fail spawn system
    6. Disappointingly short singleplayer
    7. Noobtubes are still present
    8. FRAG X UNLIMITED LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
    9. "If I had my way, I would make the prices for the Guitar Hero controllers even more expensive" - Bobby Kotick. Do you think we should feed him the money?

If someone decided to manufacture the games locally, I'm certain
the price would be drastically reduced, and jobs would be created.
    1. Government offices are still using pirated operating systems
    2. Malaysia can't even create a game of their own. Everything we have on CIBMall came from Thailand(CockSucker Online) and China.
    3. We're can't even combat the simplest cyber crime. Don't believe in everything the government tells you.
    4. No company would want to set up a branch in here.

That certainly sums up the best reasons why MW2 is worth pirating.

there's argument between using pirated software and original software. If someone really wanted to support a original software, you must financially able to support yourself to buy original softwares/game periodly. Me, as a university student, with a girl need to support I don't think I can buy one. even if i got extra money, I'll collect it and buy my figures.

Yeah soooo If i have ability to work. I'll get one. Unless you have soooo good friend that willing to buy game for you.

if the devvies give you one hell of a craptastic singleplayer because of piracy, would you still say the same thing for the next few years? :V
